HALLOWEEN EVENTS IN LOS ANGELES

 


Marina Spooktacular is a Halloween party on the harbor, featuring L.A.’s only haunted pirate ships. There’s fun and scares for all ages, but the frights intensify as night falls over Burton Chace Park in Marina del Rey during this two-day festival. Free admission. All-Day Attractions

Marina Spooktacular is open 11 a.m.–9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, October 26 and 27, 2019. Enjoy pumpkin decorating, arts and crafts, DJ music, food vendors, and more all day. Ongoing tours of L.A.'s only haunted pirate ships will be less-scary in the daytime...but spookier at night (recommended for ages 13 and up).

L.A.'s only Haunted Pirate Ships

Step aboard these skeletal tall ships if you dare, for close-up encounters with haunting zombie pirates. Ongoing tours of the pirate ships will be less scary in the daytime, but haunted Zombie Pirates will surely fright those at night! Recommended for ages 13 and up (after the sun sets!). Fill out a Liability Waiver Form per person and get a wristband to board the ship (more info under "How to Get a Wristband" section).

Haunted Blackout Maze of Terror

(Beware: High scare level!): For the true Halloween enthusiast who loves to experience the disorientation, scares, effects, and immersion of going through an intensely terrifying haunted blackout maze. For the patron who really loves Halloween and an authentic Haunt.

Spooooktacular Halloween Stage Show

Watch “ The Hammer Smasher”, a one-of-a-kind routine where the magician must escape in time to save an item borrowed by an audience member. “The Ghost” will also perform a spooky yet hilarious mind reading routine. Then, be amazed by “The Head Chopper of Doom, a guillotine style effect using a volunteer!

Graveyard Treasure Hunt

An immersive, interactive, walk-through graveyard with spooky gates, scary props, and ghoulish tombstones. Special treasure scavenger hunts scheduled each day at: 12 pm | 1 pm | 2 pm | 3 pm | 4 pm | 5 pm

Face & Hand Halloween Creep Airbrush Stations

Face painted masks, designs, for kids and adults, with sheen and sparkles. A great selection of designs for all ages.

Learn a Cultural Dance

Presented in partnership with the Ford Theatre Foundation, participatory Dance JAMs teach the history and basic moves of various dance styles from around the world.

Enter the Photo Contest

Take a creative photo on the festival grounds and upload to social media with #mdrhalloween. This year we have three categories: Best Ensemble; Best Kid Costumes (12 & under); and Best Pet Costumes! The winning photo of each category will win a Marina del Rey swag bag with a dining gift card to Tony P’s Dockside Grill! The winners will be notified via DM during the week of October 29.

How to Get
a Free Wristband

Free Admission! Just click here to RSVP and submit the required waiver form online, to expedite entrance into the event. 

NOTE: Any person (regardless of age) who wishes to board the pirate ship or participate in any of the rides/activities inside the park MUST sign and submit the following liability waiver form. You will receive a wristband at the event which gives you access to the pirate ship and other rides/activities.

You may also fill out and sign the waiver when you arrive at Burton Chace Park on either day. Look for the LA County Beaches and Harbors booth and printed forms will be available for anyone who wishes to participate in any activity or ride (regardless of age).

GETTING HERE

LOCATION

Marina del Rey is located on the Los Angeles coast, 4 miles north of LAX (Los Angeles International Airport). From Interstate 405, connect to westbound Highway 90, which terminates in Marina del Rey. Make a left onto Mindanao Way and follow it to the end at Burton Chace Park. 13650 Mindanao Way.

THE FREE RIDE

The Free Ride provides complimentary on-demand transportation around the Marina daily from noon to 9 p.m. If you see one of the Free Ride cars, just wave down the driver and hop in. Or, text your pick-up location, destination, and passenger count in advance to 323-435-5000 (no calls, please). The usual 10-15 minute wait for your driver's arrival may be longer at high-traffic events. Gratuity for your driver is appreciated but not required. BEACH SHUTTLE

The Beach Shuttle offers free transportation on weekends and holidays on a set loop between Playa Vista, Marina del Rey, and the Venice Pier. Click here for a map.

UBER/LYFT

Call your rideshare driver to a location away from heavy traffic flow. We recommend finding a safe meeting place with a visible landmark, such as a gas station or restaurant, and do not attempt pickups and drop-offs along the street. This event does not have a designated rideshare zone, but quick drop-offs/pickups are allowed at the park entrance (no waiting vehicles allowed).
