AUGUST: FREE MOVIES ON THE LAWN
Check out the August line-up for Jamaica Bay Inn’s Sunday night free movies on the lawn. Moviegoers watch family-friendly films under the stars next to the beach. And you can order a fun movie snack pack from Beachside Bar & Restaurant, too.
SUNSET PADDLE TOURS
Explore the harbor during a 90-minute paddle session on Wednesday evenings during sunset. Make reservations in advance with ProSUP Shop located at Mother’s Beach.
MEET YOUR MAKERS FLIGHT SERIES
Don’t miss the popular “Meet Your Makers” food & cocktail pairing events at SALT Restaurant and Bar on Thursday, August 24 featuring Napa Valley winery, Caymus Vineyards.
COCO BEACH BAR & GRILL IS NOW OPEN
The new restaurant opened its doors at the former Islands Restaurant location on Washington Blvd. Savor Mexican cuisine in a vibrant atmosphere, suitable for kids and date nights, too. Plus, large flatscreens above the bar are perfect for watching games. Click here for their Instagram page.
PLANTA OPENS FOR LUNCH
PLANTA Cocina at Boardwalk Shops is now serving lunch, offering delectable plant-forward pan-Latin inspired cuisine. This means more hours to soak in the picturesque waterfront view at this newly opened eatery. We recommend sitting on their gorgeous patio with a view. Click here to see PLANTA’s lunch menu.

Boardwalk Shops:
- REI Co-op will open its doors in September. More details to come! (Read their press release here)
- Winston Pies will lure pie lovers into their new location in September. We’ll report back as soon as we confirm the date!
Waterside Shops:
- Book lovers, rejoice! Barnes and Noble is opening sometime soon (TBD!) at the former Amazon Store location.
- Roca Pizza is opening soon at Waterside Shops. The pizza show serves Roman-style pizza by the cut with a California flair.
Near the Marina:
- Panini Kebab is opening sometime this year at Villa Marina Marketplace. The restaurant serves Mediterranean-style cuisine and will be located in the former space of Settebello on the second floor.
- Along Washington Boulevard, Nueva closed its doors and recently reopened as Gin Rummy, a tropical, tiki-leaning cocktail bar serving classic and creative cocktails, beer, wine and tasty bites. The outdoor patio is great for lounging and flat screen TVs allow for watching games.
- Nick the Greek is opening sometime at 4254 Lincoln Boulevard inside the shopping complex, next door to Rubio’s.Coastal Grill The health-focused chain is family-owned and serves flavorful rotisserie meats, charbroiled skewers, zesty sauces, and fresh vegetables. The Marina del Rey location is listed on their website (click here), though no set opening date yet. We’ll report back once we have more details.
